OLDER CLASSROOM:
4's and 5's

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be potty trained and evaluated for social and emotional readiness.

 

THE GOAL OF THIS CLASSROOM: 
In this classroom, your child will be in an environment designed to meet their needs as
they prepare to enter kindergarten and develop a love of learning. Their indoor and
outdoor environments promote a natural curiosity and fundamental skills for learning.
Students will be exposed to a wide variety of stimulating age-appropriate activities,
sensory exploration, and discovery, and self-reliance will be fostered through daily tasks
and building on their existing life skills.

 

Children in this classroom will be given the opportunity to:
• Develop pre-writing and a strong phonics foundation through the Zoo-phonics and
Handwriting Without Tears curriculum
• Expand on their collaborative play skills
• Learn and grow their critical thinking skills
• Be given opportunities to problem solve with peers
• Strengthen their love of being a curious learner
• Continued learning through sensory experiences designed to promote and
stimulate brain growth
• Explore pre-math and science with hands-on activities such as sorting,
matching, counting, blocks, cooking, gardening, and sand and water play
• They will experience having basic responsibilities throughout the classroom
• Develop physical strength and mastery through large and fine motor activities
• Express themselves creatively through daily music and art experiences
• Experience outdoor classroom activities and gardening
• Develop independence/self-help and hygiene skills through daily tasks
• Grow in personal and social awareness through group activities and dramatic play
• Learn important life values through Bible stories and chapel
• Develop spiritually, finding their unique value in the created world through Bible
stories and chapel
